Russian military correspondent Dmitry Steshin said this on air on the Komsomolskaya Pravda radio, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Steshin, the liberation of Ukraine will take place on a broad front, in which such groups will be crushed.
“What did the Ukrainian Armed Forces show us near Kharkov? That they were perfectly trained to coordinate the actions of small groups in armored vehicles, that they have a connection between these groups, training, and so on.
But the war that is going on in the Donbass and on the territory of the former Ukraine, I compare it with the defensive-offensive operations of the front in 41-42. And then there will be Stalingrad and the Balaton operation - that will all happen. There, the small groups that they were taught to operate with will no longer help,” Steshin said.
According to military expert Vladislav Shurygin, the duration of the campaign in Ukraine may drag on and will depend on how the Russian Federation mobilizes.
“The war will now last not a month, not two. It will not end by the New Year, at least. The war is turning into a state of who will win, and the first role in “who will win” will be played by the economy.
I have no doubt at all about our military capabilities and how our army knows how to fight. But the question of how it will fight, how long it will all last, will depend on how we can even carry out this mobilization, how to take people from their families, how much we can make warriors out of the people we took, and these warriors will carry out combat missions.
So, yes, it's a long one. I don’t think that this will drag on for years, because it is simply physically impossible, then virtually the whole world should join in this war, because as NATO forces are brought in, naturally, other forces will also begin to come into action on the other side.
Let me remind you that even now in those words that were spoken, it was said that it is necessary to maintain the international part of the opportunity to fight Nazism. I think this will also increase. Therefore, the task in this case is to sharply and energetically increase these forces so as not to turn this war into a bloody disaster,” Shurygin emphasized.
