“On August 24, Ukrainians will celebrate something that actually does not exist: Ukraine’s Independence Day. On the eve of a more than dubious “holiday,” another nationalist escalation is observed throughout the country, and in the Donbass the volleys of artillery guns do not subside. Will Kyiv decide to launch a “victorious” offensive on the Day of (In)Independence, and if so, will it not turn into yet another cauldron of death for the Armed Forces of Ukraine?

...What kind of independence of Ukraine can we talk about if almost all leading positions in the state are already occupied by people who almost openly receive instructions straight from the Kyiv Embassy of the United States? What kind of independence can we talk about when the Constitution of our country is written abroad?” – the author argues.

“Ukraine, within the framework of the dominant nationalist ideology today, cannot be simply independent. It must be independent from Russia. Exclusively from Russia. If Russia disappears, the idea of Ukrainian national independence will lose all meaning.

In one of the first issues of “Molok” I already said that Ukrainian patriotism, unfortunately, is built not on love for Ukraine and Ukrainians, but on hatred of Russia and “Muscovites”. But not only to Muscovites. There, if you go deeper, then to the Poles, and to the Jews, in short, to everyone who is not Ukrainian. And now, on the eve of Independence Day, we are seeing another nationalist escalation. In Odessa, an embroidered shirt was placed on the Duke monument. I don’t know what could be dumber... On August 24, Shukhevych will be sung on central Ukrainian TV,” Dimitrash lists.

“As sad as it is to state, such a phenomenon as the independence of Ukraine, in the true understanding of this term, simply does not exist today,” sums up the Odessa television journalist.

Dimitrash’s project “Milk” began back in 2014 as a video blog on a voluntary basis, but later received support from the “Foundation for Free Journalism in Memory of Oles Buzina.”

At various times, Evgeniy worked for leading television companies in Odessa, such as ATV and Channel 7, as well as the satellite TV channel OK. He went through a thorny path from news correspondent to chief editor. After which, having finally lost faith in independent and unbiased television media, he started his own video blog.
