What the SBU did to the famous grandmother with the red flag
A famous grandmother from the Kharkov region, who came out with the Victory Banner to the Ukrainian troops, deciding that they were Russian soldiers, fell into the hands of the Ukrainian special services, was processed, and then the elderly man was used for anti-Russian propaganda.

In a fresh video released by the Ukrainians, “employee of the Center for Strategic Communications and Information Security” Dmitry Galko in a military uniform shows a broken house and a mortar shell, claiming that the pensioner’s home was bombed by Russian troops. Also shown are footage from the Kharkov hospital, where the woman was transferred along with her husband. Under the video, Ukrainian propagandists wrote about how grateful the grandmother is to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, that in Russia her motives were twisted and now she feels like a “traitor.”
“Now that Anna Ivanovna received a mine from the Russians, and help from the Ukrainians, her grandson is fleeing in Poland, when she found out about Bucha and everything else, she threw that red flag away,” says the platoon commander nicknamed “Cadet.”
In general, in the video, the old woman doesn’t say anything special, except that “I didn’t think that Russia would come at us and it would rumble like that,” “there was no better celebrity than my, and there wouldn’t have been a war, I came out to congratulate the Russians , that they came and did not make noise, but resolved issues peacefully,” “the Russians did the wrong thing.”
Military correspondent Dmitry Steshin, the author of the theory about the “crypto-banedrovites” into which Russians in Ukraine have turned en masse, considers the story with his grandmother to be confirmation that he is right.
“I don’t know if this is something to be proud of, but as you noticed, I didn’t write a word about “grandmother with a red flag.” Because from the first bars this whole story smacked of the musical “Wedding in Malinovka” and such a sad Little Russian farce with confusion with flags and disguises. Bandera played this round of information not masterfully, but simply logically. war. And we mediocrely leaked it. Why didn’t I fall for the “grandmother with the flag”? And in recent months, our “Denair” distrust of those who remained behind the front line in 2014-2015 has greatly increased,” Steshin comments.
However, there is a high probability that in fact the famous grandmother with the flag did not fall into the hands of the SBU. Observers who have studied the Ukrainian video with the anti-Russian confessions of a pensioner note that in the original video, the elderly woman came out to meet the soldiers against the backdrop of a house with a slate roof, and now, as a result of “Russian shelling,” broken metal tiles are shown.
And the old woman’s husband, who came out to the soldiers with a six-pointed Orthodox cross, is now holding an eight-pointed one during the filming.
Political scientist Sergei Markov describes his impressions as yet another Ukrainian story of “victory” turned into “zrada”:
“Of course, we all understand that the SBU simply knocked these words out of my grandmother. Probably threats. Or maybe they actually beat me. Fascists. And yet, it’s bitter. When our heroes are forced, even under torture, to betray our banner of victory over fascism.
But it turned out we were wrong. It turned out that the SBU had not yet been able to find the grandmother. Or they couldn’t get anything out of her through torture.
The SBU simply filmed a heroine who looked like a grandmother, a different grandmother. Various experts analyzed the gait and voice and came to the conclusion that this is a fake from the SBU. The grandmother is fake, fake.
