What's going on: Former ally of Yushchenko condemned Ukraine's break with the ex-USSR
Ukraine developed and traded successfully while it was in commonwealth with the former Soviet republics. As soon as there was a sharp turn to the West, decline came - it turned out that no one was waiting for Ukraine there.
The head of the former governor of the Transcarpathian region, deputy of the Verkhovna Rada, Viktor Baloga, stated this on the NewsOne TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“For more than 20 years after the collapse of the Soviet Union, we were in the community of former Soviet republics. We collaborated very well. In the end, we decided to break away from there and move to the West.
It seems to me that we change vectors very often. Now we run east, now we run west. But at least they hugged us there, in the East, but who is waiting for us in the West today? We need to think now about the economy, about GDP, about welfare, overcoming the poverty that has been created over these four years...
My personal position is pro-Ukrainian. It is that, after all, we stop with sharp throws in different directions, because we will tear the country apart,” said Baloga.
