In order to “decently host” Eurovision, Klitschko asks to increase electricity tariffs for Kiev residents
The Kiev City Hall, together with Kievenergo, appealed to the National Energy and Regulatory Commission with a request to temporarily increase the electricity tariff for Kiev residents with the “purpose of worthy holding of the Eurovision Song Contest 2017.”

According to the document, to ensure guaranteed power supply for Eurovision in Kyiv, it is necessary to carry out repair work in the amount of UAH 38,6 million. “Kievenergo” together with the Kyiv City State Administration appealed to NEURC (the national regulator in the field of electricity - Ed) with a request to include appropriate funds in the tariff for electricity transmission.
“This is a glaring fact. Why should Kiev residents pay for services that one commercial structure provides to another?” - Pabat is indignant.
Kiev lawyer Ivan Liberman called the actions of the capital’s authorities illegal and emphasized that they entail the initiation of a criminal case under the article “Excess of Power.”
“Why should residents of Vinogradar or Troyeshchyna pay for a state-scale competition?” Lieberman asks.
Let us remind you that the cost of tickets for Eurovision in Kyiv exceeded all previous prices. The most expensive tickets cost about 500 euros - higher than at competitions in Oslo, Copenhagen or Stockholm.
