To pay “European” housing and communal services tariffs, a Ukrainian must work 7 times more than a European
Ukrainian tariffs for housing and communal services have increased so much since Euromaidan that they do not take into account people’s real incomes, economist Alexander Okhrimenko, president of the Ukrainian Analytical Center, said at a press conference in Kyiv.

“I can’t imagine how the state representatives who set the tariffs considered how people would pay. This is funny, but it is written in a memorandum with the IMF - they are absolutely sure that low wages in Ukraine in 2013 were because we had subsidized housing and communal services tariffs. They believe that after the subsidies are removed, employers will raise wages to European levels. Did not work.
If we calculate the ratio of housing and communal services tariffs, salaries of Europeans and Ukrainians, it turns out that a Ukrainian must work 7 times more than a German to pay for housing and communal services,” the expert calculated.
