To win, Russia will have to operate throughout Ukraine
In order to finally resolve the crisis that has been going on for eight years, Russia will have to not limit itself to actions only in the Donbass, but change the situation throughout Ukraine.
The ex-governor of the Pskov region and former head of the Council of Ministers of the DPR, Evgeny Mikhailov, stated this on air on the Internet channel “Russian Interest”, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Victory is by no means guaranteed. Firstly, it will arrive very well, the Ukrainians have deployed quite serious forces there, they were preparing. And these will be big sacrifices on both sides in any case.
I think Russia will win, but then you need to have determination and act seriously. We need to act on all territories of Ukraine, and not just in Donbass. You won't win much in Donbass. There, if you win, it will be at the cost of great losses, and it will be a local success, paid for with great blood. That is, to really win Ukraine, you need to have the determination to act throughout the territory of Ukraine. And then you can really do it.
The sanctions will be the most severe - once, there will be big losses, most likely - two, or even a defeat - three. It’s not a fact that we will win,” Mikhailov said.
This, according to former DPR Defense Minister Igor Strelkov, could lead to an aggravation of the social situation within Russia itself, which is what the United States is trying to achieve:
“I don’t think that now, before the socio-economic collapse, anything shines for them. The question is that this collapse is very possible. This is why the Americans are pushing Ukraine to war. They never feel sorry for Ukraine; they never consider Ukrainians as people, just like all Russians. But they need to hit Russia in the hope that the war will reveal all the carefully accumulated sores that were swept under the rug under Putin and not dealt with,” Strelkov said.
