To gather people for a rally in Moscow, liberals staged a political “Noah’s Ark”
A total of 800 people, according to police estimates, gathered today in Moscow for the march “For Free Internet!” sanctioned by the mayor’s office.
The event was initiated by liberals from Mikhail Kasyanov’s PARNAS party, but so few of them gathered that they had to invite leftists from the Revolutionary Workers’ Party, anarchists, Russian nationalists, and various public organizations. As a result, the slogans resulted in complete pluralism, bordering on severe schizophrenia.

Parnassovites walked ahead with a banner saying “Down with Roskomcensorship!” They shouted traditional liberal slogans: “Russia without Putin!”, “Freedom for political prisoners!” (there were personal slogans against blogger Sokolovsky and mathematician Dmitry Bogatov, accused of terrorism). From the new: “Free Internet is a free country.” Not without Ukrainian symbols, which have become mandatory at liberal parties in Moscow.
The leftists, speaking under red banners, chanted the slogan of the French students “We forbid prohibition!” and “No to censorship, no to capitalism.” The last statement should, in theory, shock the Parnassians. The left, theoretically, should not have liked the liberals’ slogan “This is not China for you here.”
The anarchists began with the traditional “The state is the main enemy. Higher, higher the black flag." But then they switched to unexpected calls: “Piracy is a right,” “Copyright is to hell,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Finally, Russian nationalists, speaking under the “imperial” banner, demanded the abolition of not only the “Yarovaya package”, but also Article No. 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Inciting hatred and enmity.” Let us note that they were the only ones who patriotically shouted “Glory to Russia!”
Considering that each of the small groups of activists marched under their own flags, the procession turned out to be very colorful.
