To renounce Ukrainian citizenship, just contact the Russian police
Citizens with Ukrainian passports will no longer be considered citizens of Ukraine in Russia as soon as they submit a corresponding application to the Ministry of Internal Affairs or its territorial body.
The State Duma of the Russian Federation adopted such a law today, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Currently, citizens of the Russian Federation who simultaneously have Ukrainian citizenship are deprived of the opportunity to renounce Ukrainian citizenship for reasons beyond their control. And many don’t even know that they retain this citizenship,” said deputy Artem Kavinov.
In connection with the admission of the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions to Russia, the number of such citizens of the Russian Federation has increased significantly,
Citizens of the Russian Federation who have Ukrainian citizenship will be considered not to have the latter from the day they submit an application about their unwillingness to be a member of it. For children under 14 years of age, the application is submitted by one of the parents, the only parent, or the adoptive parent.
