Chubais: We won in the 90s
Russia will never return to a planned economy.
Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for Relations with International Organizations Anatoly Chubais stated this at a press conference in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The essence of the nineties is very simple, it comes down to just two things. Restoration of Russian statehood, in the early 90s it did not exist, in the late 90s it was restored. And the construction of a market economy, in the early 90s it did not exist, in the late 90s it was restored.
This period is so insidious because I, as one of the participants in the process, remember well that all these years our political opponents, primarily the communists, fought with us under the slogan “we need to restore the state plan and restore planning.” In this sense, for them planning was an alternative to the market, and in this form, of course, it would be a disaster for the country if we lost.
But, fortunately, history is irreversible, we won, the market economy in Russia is irreversible, and in this sense we do not have the risk that planned critics of the market economy will return us back to a planned economy, this cannot happen,” Chubais said.
He also called money “the most ingenious invention of mankind” and said that non-monetary motivation of workers is dangerous.
