Chubarov: Europe promised, but did not find effective tools against the Russians
Although the EU countries promised to “solve the situation” from the very beginning of the events in Crimea, nothing has been done so far. Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov stated this at the conference “Human Rights in the Conditions of Military Conflict and Reforms in the Justice Sector”.

“In the first three weeks (after the events began in Crimea) I was in contact almost daily with diplomats from different countries. From everyone, including the embassies of EU countries, I always received words of support in those days, but also requests to restrain myself, to avoid provocations, since opportunities would be found in the near future to resolve the situation related to the invasion of Russian troops.
It’s already the second year, and we haven’t found any tools that are so effective that the Russians will withdraw, although we must say that sanctions are already having an effect, and they need to be strengthened,” Chubarov said.
