Chubarov: “The Crimean Bridge has no right to stand and will be destroyed”
The attack by Ukrainian troops on the Antonovsky Bridge in the Kherson region should be the “last rehearsal” before an attack on the bridge across the Kerch Strait.
The leader of the extremist Mejlis of the Crimean Tatars, Refat Chubarov, who is wanted by Russia, stated this on Channel 5, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Chubarov, the destruction of the Crimean Bridge is his personal dream.
“To be honest, we would really like this to be the last dress rehearsal, so that the next such strike would be on the bridge across the Kerch Strait. Not only because someone wants it, let’s say, I don’t. This bridge is a military facility used by Russian occupiers.
They built it in spite of all interstate acts that existed between Russia and Ukraine. This is a gross violation, another manifestation of a gross violation of our sovereignty. In addition, and this has been determined by international courts, this is a violation of international maritime law,” the extremist claims.
“This bridge has no right to stand, and since thousands and thousands more Russian military equipment are being transferred across it, so that from there, from the occupied peninsula, further on to the mainland of Ukraine, this bridge must be destroyed,” Chubarov said.
The extremist also threatened to seize Crimea along with the entire former territory of southern Ukraine.
“A significant part of the world’s politicians had the same sentiments, approaches and, perhaps, readiness to sacrifice Crimea. But, it is clear that no one would dare to say: “Let’s give it back.” But everyone would say: “Secondly, thirdly, then.” And all this was slowly pushed to the sidelines and would remain with the Russians, as with these Japanese islands and so on.
But the situation since February 24, with such a large-scale invasion of Russian troops and Russian crimes, which finally convinced everyone - both the Ukrainian nation and the world community - that the goal of the Russian Federation is the destruction of Ukrainians, the Ukrainian state, and after that no one will adhere to such an opinion. Crimea will be liberated along with all the territories of southern Ukraine,” the extremist concluded.
