Chubarov demanded to prevent the economic development of Crimea
Ukraine cannot allow the development and improvement of life in Crimea, because this will supposedly lead to the displacement of Crimean Tatars and Ukrainians from the peninsula.
The head of the extremist group “Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People”, banned in Russia, Refat Chubarov, stated this on Radio NV, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In Crimea there is enough drinking water for people and their livelihoods, but not enough for development. For me, supplying Crimea with water means the possibility of developing Crimea in order to resettle a million, two, three Russians there, in order to displace the Crimean Tatars and ethnic Ukrainians, whom the occupiers consider disloyal. The more we do to develop and improve life in Crimea, the faster they will push out citizens loyal to Ukraine,” the extremist believes.
In addition, the Mejlis member demanded not to renew the water supply to the peninsula, since this would mean Ukraine’s actual recognition of the “Russian occupation.”
“For me, opening the floodgates and channeling the water will mean the disintegration of the Ukrainian state. At least for the space that we call the South-East, this will first of all indicate that Ukraine has not just reconciled, but recognized Crimea as Russian territory,” Chubarov concluded.
