Chubarov admitted: Poroshenko covered up human rights violations in Crimea
When the Mejlis, banned in the Russian Federation, contrary to the laws of Ukraine, began to blockade Crimea, this caused a protest from international human rights organizations that stood up for the inhabitants of the peninsula, but Petro Poroshenko chose to ignore the criticism.
Verkhovna Rada deputy Refat Chubarov stated this at a round table in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In war conditions, a reduction in human rights cannot be avoided. I now remember the blockade of Crimea. Do you remember what the situation was then, in September 2015: limitless trade was no longer so much to meet the needs of people living in Crimea, but Crimea had already turned into a giant territorial pump, from where products were pumped through the Kerch Strait to Russian territory...
I am very sorry that when we carried out this blockade, we, as the Majlis, received pressure not only from our international partners, not only from our own state, thank God that here we more or less had the opportunity to negotiate with the president. But we had a lot of pressure from human rights organizations. Everyone attacked us with the idea that our actions led to a reduction in human rights in occupied Crimea,” Chubarov noted.
Thank you!
