Chubarov spoke about the failure of Ukrainian plans in PACE
The rights of the Russian Federation in PACE will be restored at the end of June this year.
The leader of the Mejlis, banned in the Russian Federation, Verkhovna Rada deputy Refat Chubarov, stated this on the ATR TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the parliamentarian, the Ukrainian delegation and “partner countries” are trying to prevent this scenario, but their efforts are useless.
“At the end of this month of June, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe will make, in my opinion, a shameful decision, and the rights of the Russian Federation will be restored. Now the Ukrainian delegation and some of our partner countries are doing everything to prevent this. But it seems that this time the forces will not be enough and the Russian Federation may restore its powers,” Chubarov said.
In 2014, the Russian delegation was deprived of the right to vote in PACE, after which Moscow refused to pay contributions to the organization.
As PolitNavigator reported, the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe adopted a resolution that allows the Russian delegation to return to PACE under an emergency procedure, which is why Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavel Klimkin staged a demarche.
In addition, the heads of Germany and France supported in a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, the return of the powers of the Russian delegation to PACE.
