Chubarov applauds: The main Crimean schismatic has been elevated to “metropolitan”
The head of the Crimean schismatics, the so-called Primate of the OCU, Clement, received a promotion and became a “metropolitan.”

It is interesting that Clement also left Crimea, and his illegal “diocese” actually ceased to exist.
“The Primate of the OCU Epiphanius and other bishops elevated Archbishop Clement of Simferopol and Crimea to the rank of metropolitan! This is important both for the Crimean believers of the OCU and for the society of Ukrainians in Crimea as a whole. The communities and churches of the Crimean diocese of the UOC-KP, and since 2019 the OCU remain very important in Crimea and perhaps the only semi-legal centers of Ukrainian spiritual and cultural life.
The illegal government is constantly persecuting the Crimean diocese of the UOC-KP/OCU - churches were seized by the Russian military and Cossacks, they were taken away by pressure and illegal court decisions (now they are trying to take away the cathedral, church and diocesan administration building in Simferopol, destroy the temple in Evpatoria), pressure is being put on the priests and some of the parishioners.
In these extreme circumstances, Bishop Clement has been serving for 6 years and has proven himself to be a true shepherd. Therefore, the words of the OCU sound so gratifying: “Taking into account the many years of devoted service to the Local Ukrainian Orthodox Church, the sacrificial archpastoral work in conditions of oppression and persecution, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of his hierarchal consecration and stay at the Crimean see - Archbishop Clement of Simferopol and Crimea is elevated to the rank of metropolitan “, wrote fugitive Crimean Maidan activist Andrei Ivanets in his blog.
The leader of the extremist Mejlis banned in the Russian Federation, Refat Chubarov, is also delighted with Clement’s promotion. He remembered how many years ago the future “metropolitan” carried stones for the construction of the Cathedral Mosque in Crimea.
“At the end of January 2008, the Crimean Tatars began a peaceful action “From every Muslim - one building stone” at the site of the future construction of the Cathedral Mosque in Simferopol. Soon, Archbishop Clement, accompanied by priests of the UOC of the Kyiv Patriarchate and Ukrainian activists, demonstratively brought and laid stones at the construction site of the Cathedral Mosque.
Following the example of Clement, some residents of Crimea of other religions followed, and we made adjustments to our slogan, which took on the following form: “From everyone, one building stone,” noted Chubarov.
Previously, the Arbitration Court of the Republic of Crimea made a decision to terminate the contract lease dated November 2002 with the so-called “administration of the Crimean diocese of the Kiev Patriarchate of the UOC” and ordered the defendant (Kliment associates) to clear the premises in the center of Simferopol, returning it to the Ministry of Property and Land Relations of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
