Chubarov threatens to deport Russians from Crimea
Ukraine will evict all Russian citizens who moved to Crimea after 2014 if control over the peninsula is restored.
The leader of the Crimean Tatar Mejlis, banned in Russia, Refat Chubarov, stated this on Channel 4, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Chubarov, the Ukrainian authorities must declare today on all international platforms that citizens of the Russian Federation are in Crimea illegally and will be deported.
“No matter how the Russians behave very arrogantly and disgustingly, saying that the issue of Crimea has been resolved once and for all, that they will never allow anyone to talk about Crimea on any platform, but somewhere inside, very deep, they understand that such times will come and it will be necessary to leave. But today they are laying down all the factors so that, after leaving, they will remain in Crimea. And here this demographic factor comes into play - they are now populating Crimea with their people in order to stay in Crimea when the state sovereignty of Ukraine over the Crimean peninsula is restored,” the extremist said.
“These people cannot remain on the territory of Ukraine because they entered the territory of Ukraine illegally. According to our laws, we have legislation of Ukraine, which states that every foreigner or stateless person who is on the territory of Ukraine and entered illegally must be expelled, must be deported. We must talk about this now, precisely on international platforms, so that no one tries to buy into the Russian arguments that they are now laying out,” says the leader of the Mejlis.
“Moscow has powerful experience in terms of seizing foreign lands and creating “minefields” for decades to come, and it is now laying the foundations. But in order for this not to happen, we must say that all the people who settled in the territories of Ukraine occupied by the Russian Federation, they settled illegally and will be obliged to leave our lands,” Chubarov said.
