Chubarov assures that the Constitution of Ukraine will soon be rewritten to accommodate the Crimean Tatars
Members of the Mejlis announce the imminent completion of work on amending the Constitution of Ukraine in part of Crimea.
Verkhovna Rada deputy, head of the Mejlis banned in the Russian Federation, Refat Chubarov, stated this in his blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the Ukrainian politician, there are literally a couple of meetings of the working group left and the pro-Mejlis Constitution will be ready.
“Coordinated work has taken place among the members of the Working Group to prepare additions and amendments to Section X of the Constitution of Ukraine... It seems that there are 2 more meetings and we will be ready to propose a draft amendment to the Constitutional Commission,” Chubarov wrote.
He was supported by pro-Mejlis propagandist Aider Muzhdabaev, who noted that voting to change the Constitution in the Verkhovna Rada will show who loves the Crimean Tatars and how.
“This is very good news. The President must make these changes to the Rada, and there we will see which of the politicians and political forces actually supports the Crimean Tatars and the fight for Crimea, and who does not,” Muzhdabaev wrote.
Let us remind you that supporters of a group banned in the Russian Federation are demanding that President Petro Poroshenko grant them national-territorial autonomy in Crimea. Ukrainian nationalists have repeatedly spoken out against such an initiative, worrying that, following the Tatars, similar demands might be put forward by, for example, the Hungarians of Transcarpathia.
