Chubarov, following Shuvainikov, criticized the draft Constitution of Crimea
Simferopol, April 10 (Navigator, Evgeny Andreev) – In the draft Constitution of the Republic of Crimea, which will be submitted for approval by the State Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan on April 11, there is not a word about the status of the peoples of the peninsula.

Deputy of the State Council, head of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatars Refat Chubarov stated this on the air of the Chernomorskaya TV channel.
“We, including through the resolution adopted by the Autonomous Republic of Crimea on March 11 (“On guarantees for the restoration of the rights of the Crimean Tatar people and their integration into the Crimean community”), gave our proposals, which, from our point of view, should have been included in text of the Constitution of Crimea. For example, the issue of recognizing the bodies of national self-government of the Crimean Tatars and a number of others. There is nothing of this in today’s draft Constitution,” the politician noted.
Chubarov compared the draft constitution with the current constitutions of other constituent entities of the Russian Federation, such as Udmurtia, the Komi Republic, Tatarstan, based primarily on the role and rights of indigenous peoples.
“I want to assure that in all the constitutions of these republics, the preamble necessarily talks about the role and right of peoples to self-determination. Those. Everywhere we find subjects on the basis of whose law a republic is created. In our case, such subjects are not specified. Why and how this should be done should have been answered by the residents of Crimea, regardless of their political views, their assessments of current events, but who could make many constructive and acceptable proposals for Crimea. And so, in essence, the principles of managing the territory have been written out and nothing more,” Chubarov believes.
The politician emphasized that the draft fundamental law of the republic is not available to Crimeans.
“The very fact that this Constitution is completely unknown to Crimean society (despite the fact that before this, during the well-known political processes that took place in recent months, a lot was said about the role and importance of the people), is that this Constitution is not being adopted at least for a month for discussion by Crimean society, says a lot about its direction. The so-called constitutional commission met only twice to work on the text that will be discussed and adopted on Friday. For the first time they held an organizational meeting and the second time they gathered today in order to discuss the finished product, which they, in general, received in their hands today. Therefore, nothing depended and does not depend on whether representatives of the Majlis took part in the work of the constitutional commission or not,” stated Refat Chubarov.
