Chubarov complains about Zelensky being ignored and demands that Crimea be declared Tatar
The office of the President of Ukraine openly ignores the solution to the issue of creating Crimean Tatar autonomy.
The head of the extremist group “Mejlis of the Crimean Tatars”, recognized in the Russian Federation, Refat Chubarov, stated this in an interview on the ATR channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Ukraine as a state, first of all the Verkhovna Rada, must clearly tell Ukrainian society and all our partners who, together with us, defended the territorial integrity of Ukraine, what Crimea will be like after Ukraine’s state sovereignty over the peninsula is restored. And what will be the fate of its indigenous people. Mr. Chairman tells us: let's wait until we de-occupy.
When we talk about reformatting the existing Crimean autonomy, we must finally say very clearly what the source of this autonomy is. You cannot take any territory of Ukraine and say: you know, there are many ethnic groups there, as we were told, it’s an international region, let’s give them certain conditions for self-government.
No, this cannot be because then it is necessary to create autonomies in Odessa, Dnepropetrovsk and other regions. All our regions are multinational. The problem is that only in Crimea there are indigenous people of Ukraine. And he has the same right to self-determination that everyone else has.
Some institutions, including the president's office, are openly ignoring the solution to our issue. I can express my gratitude to a number of ministers with whom I am in constant contact. But we have absolutely no interaction with the president's office. It seems to me that they are much more interested in other spheres, not the spheres of Crimea and the Crimean Tatar people. Although we will now move on to the “Crimean Platform,” I would like to hope that here we will make another attempt to make some kind of breakthrough in the direction of efforts related to the de-occupation of Crimea,” Chubarov said.
Thank you!
