Chubarov and Islyamov were charged under articles similar to the case of Shamil Basayev
The initiators of the blockade of Crimea, former Russian businessman, owner of the ATR TV channel Lenur Islyamov, and people's deputy, chairman of the Mejlis Refat Chubarov, against whom the FSB opened a criminal case in Crimea, want to be tried under the same articles that were charged with the leaders of Chechen militants Dzhokhar Dudayev and Shamil Basayev.

According to him, despite the criminal cases, the Mejlis members will not change their position on Crimea.
“We do not go back on our words, as we have stood and will continue to stand for our native land. No matter what happens to us, no matter what we do. We were aware of who we were fighting with and who was standing against us. We are charged with extremism, participation in illegal gangs and encroachment on the territorial integrity of the Russian Federation. These are the most severe articles under which terrorists are judged. Dudayev, Shamil Basayev and everyone who fought for a free Ichkeria in Chechnya had these same articles. We see the same thing now - Chubarov and I have similar articles,” Islyamov said.
