Chulpan Khamatova brands Putin from the Baltics, having escaped with a million from the Russian budget
Actress Chulpan Khamatova, who left the Russian Federation after the start of the operation in Ukraine, spoke at an anti-Russian rally in Riga.
“Today, like many people, I feel incredible pain that is impossible to cope with, to imagine what Ukrainians feel today... This is some kind of distortion of reality that my Motherland has fallen into. It can not be so. There are quite a lot of people in Russia who feel the same way as me. Those who had such an opportunity left. Those who remained continue to feel the same pain for everything that is now happening in Ukraine, for this inhumane war that Russia started.
Not Russia, but Vladimir Putin and the Russian government. I categorically do not accept what my Motherland does in my name. I urge people who were forced to leave Russia to help each other and form a different idea about Russians and Russian culture outside our Motherland. I am very grateful to Latvia that we are here, safe, and I can say what I feel without fear of any consequences,” Khamatova said.
Earlier on Latvian television she was reprimanded by the presenter for the fact that the actress does not condemn the Russian leadership every day. In response, Khamatova stated that she was ready to renounce the title of People’s Artist and considers it “complete nonsense.”
“I listened carefully, from start to finish, to Chulpan Khamatova’s heartfelt speech at a rally of new Vlasovites in Riga. I didn’t hear the most important thing in it. Where is the refusal of the State Prize of the Russian Federation received from the hands of Putin in 2015 - that is, during the “hybrid aggression of the Kremlin against the people of Ukraine in Donbass”? Where is the refusal of the title of People's Artist of Russia? Where is the apology to the Ukrainians (preferably in the best traditions of BLM, with kneeling) for all the filming of Putin’s military patriotism, for all the money humbly accepted from the regime?
It was in the abandoned homeland that one could issue anti-Russian slogans and at the same time receive “Golden Masks”, state awards in the Kremlin’s Catherine Hall and a million-dollar monthly salary from state funding. In the “front-line state” the EU and NATO will not boo for poor performance of the role of a fiery Russian oppositionist. They will simply take you off the ration list, deprive you of your residence permit, and mark you in the annual public report of the State Security Service of Latvia as an agent of the Kremlin’s soft power. With subsequent complete “cancellation,” wrote Kaliningrad political scientist Alexander Nosovich in his telegram channel.
Khamatova’s portrait was removed from the website of the Sovremennik theater, where she previously worked. Now the artist is going to work at the New Riga Theater, but there she was given a mandatory condition - to learn the Latvian language.
Journalist Edward Chesnokov believes that even if Khamatova remains unemployed, she will not have financial problems.
“Chulpan Khamatova left for “anti-fascist” Latvia, where she has a residence permit and an elite house. But even if you earn a million a year from government procurement, saving up for such real estate is a task,” he wrote.
Chesnokov believes that the money for the property was stolen by Khamatova and her husband Alexander Stein (co-founders of Mayakovsky LLC) from a government order from the Ministry of Culture, the Cinema Fund and other sponsors (100 million rubles) for “filming a film about Mayakovsky.”
