Chulpan Khamatova called people accusing Gorbachev of treason “stupid”
The last leader of the USSR, Mikhail Gorbachev, was not a traitor - he simply paid for his gullibility and became a victim of betrayal both by his entourage and by the Western leaders who deceived him.
The famous Russian actress, deputy artistic director of the Sovremennik Theater Chulpan Khamatova stated this in an interview with Nadezhda Strelets, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Khamatova, who played the role of Gorbachev’s wife, Raisa Maksimovna, in the play of the same name, emphasized that she was friends with the President of the USSR and called “stupid” the people who accuse him of betrayal and destruction of the Union.
«It's because of the stupidity of these people. Forgive me for being so rude, but if you give such assessments, take the trouble to find out how everything really happened. I hope that we reveal this a little in the play. At the very least, just look at the last speech, when Mikhail Sergeevich leaves his post, resigns from his post, what words he says there. He is leaving because the country has not taken the path of preserving the union state, but the opposite. He didn’t agree with this and therefore decided to leave,” Khamatova said.
According to the actress, Gorbachev was “fucked” by everyone he trusted: “Yes, he was really “thrown in” from all sides. And everyone “fucked” him from all sides. But it has nothing to do with him. If a person judges other people by himself, and understands that there is no room for betrayal, and according to his own scale of nobility, these are the problems of those people around, not his.”
