Chulpan Khamatova opened her eyes so that it hurt - where are the new elites?
Chulpan Khamatova wanted to return to Russia. And it seems like he’s even planning to return to Russia. Chulpan did not like life in Latvia, where she emigrated from “terrible repressions.” It lasted for several months.
From this story, in fact, very interesting conclusions can and should be drawn. To begin with, that the brave new world that our cultural elites are dreaming of - “these best people in the city,” remembering the cult film - is not at all as beautiful and free as they thought. And that hellish totalitarianism that Huxley (“Brave New World”) and Orwell (“1984”) described is about those countries where, in fact, the named authors lived, and not about Russia, which they used to scare for the sake of horror stories.
After all, what didn’t Khamatova like? In her own words:
“Everything is very expensive, but there is minimal money. The organizers of anti-Russian rallies and actions at which we must speak, demonstrating loyalty, have already tortured us.”
That is, a famous person is literally forced to go to public events so that she can pronounce there - on a piece of paper, as they say - relevant messages and slogans. They do this in Russia too, right?
Secondly, we are seeing an illustration of Pelevin’s phrase that the West needs the Russian creator solely as a battering ram inside Russia for the system existing there - best beaten by riot police. But when this same creator (although here we can recall another phrase of Viktor Olegovich: “We don’t need creators for the hell of it! Creator, Vava, creator!”) tries to develop activities directly in the West, then they only look at him in a boring, jingling manner. And if he tries to swagger, like, for example, Pavlensky, then they take appropriate strict measures.
“In terms of career, it’s a complete zero,” Khamatova states.
There is no truth in slandering Chulpan Khamatova. Unlike many Russian celebrities, she is ideological and, for example, although “under the weather,” she sincerely praises Gorbachev and with pioneering enthusiasm plays Zuleikha, who opens her eyes. Well, now it’s time for Khamatova herself to open them. So let him return to Russia and continue helping sick children.
With only one “but”. I’m afraid that Chulpan Khamatova has just begun the path to understanding, and if she suddenly returns to Russia, where she is immediately given lucrative government contracts and given a comfortable sinecure, then the lady will quickly return to her usual mode, starting to talk about the “totalitarian post-Soviet society, which blah blah -bla carries out repressions against its citizens.” No, Chulpan, you need to go through this thorny but important path to the end in order to understand the main thing: Russia is a country of opportunities and freedoms for people like you. Only Russia – and no one else.
Our tragedy is that we, it seems, have never found those who are capable of replacing all these Khamatovs, Makareviches and others. More precisely, they exist, but we need to help them – at the highest level – to get to the front row. After all, when, if not in times like these, should we renew the elite? Especially if they themselves proclaimed themselves such.
