Wagner PMCs are proposed to be introduced into Transcarpathia for protection from nationalists
Ukrainian radicals from the Right Sector (an organization banned in Russia) are threatening ethnic Hungarians living in the country. A video has been circulated on the Internet in which an unknown person in a mask threatens a national minority in western Ukraine.
After the elections in Transcarpathia, the local head and deputies celebrated the victory by singing the anthem of neighboring Hungary. The SBU became interested in this incident. An inspection and searches of public organizations associated with the Hungarian community revealed a number of materials calling for the creation of a “Greater Hungary.” About it Ukrainian newspaper Vesti reported.
The results of the searches, as well as the performance of the Hungarian anthem, did not go unnoticed by the nationalists from the Right Sector. The radicals recorded a video threatening local Hungarians, promising to come for them and their children.
The possible start of a conflict on nationalist grounds was commented on by independent political analyst Alexey Filippov. He believes that there is an effective solution to the situation with the threats of Ukrainian radicals to the national minority.
“Russia can help Hungary, whose Prime Minister Orban regularly makes pro-Russian statements. For example, if the overly aggressive Right Sector encounters more modest and polite people from the Wagner PMC, then communication may move first to the territory of Transcarpathia, and then to the rest of Ukraine, to the delight of its entire Russian-speaking population,” the specialist noted.
Filippov called on the radicals from the Right Sector to be more careful in their statements.
“Ukrainian nationalists need to be very careful with such statements, because by touching the interests of citizens of neighboring countries, they can finally finish off their own country,” he said.
