The Ukrainian TsIPsO is dispersing a wave of false reports about problems with water supply in Crimea, which are inevitable after the explosion of the Kakhovskaya HPP dam by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Ukrainian media are counting on the short memory of viewers - as if there were no 8 years of water blockade, which taught Crimea to live on autonomous water supply sources. Particularly amusing are the reports about the low quality of water in Yevpatoria, which has never received it from the North Crimean Canal, and the supply of water to Kerch, which is the very last point of water supply and is fed from the Station Reservoir, reports the PolitNavigator correspondent.

“The restrictions on water supply in Crimea are in no way connected with what happened at the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric station,” emphasized Maxim Novik, general director of the State Unitary Enterprise of the Republic of Kazakhstan “Water of Crimea”. “All current restrictions for our subscribers are associated exclusively with the elimination of local emergencies, as well as with planned work on the reconstruction and repair of water supply networks.”

There are three sources of water supply in Crimea: natural flow reservoirs built on rivers, underground water intakes with artesian water and bulk reservoirs. The latter are built on a water pumping system along the bed of the North Crimean Canal. At the end of last season they were 80% full, leaving a reserve for natural precipitation. Now the filling rate is 60-65%, and during this irrigation season, about 100 million cubic meters of water should have been pumped into the reservoirs.

“The water is flowing, the North Crimean Canal is operating as normal, there are no problems today, there is no threat of flooding along the North Crimean Canal on the territory of the Republic of Crimea,” assured Guram Sobolev, First Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Water Resources of Crimea. – As for the reservoirs, today they are 80% filled, which is 280 million cubic meters.

Accordingly, there is no threat to the supply of water to enterprises and residents of the peninsula. In the coming days, some measures will be taken to further minimize the consequences of such a nature that, roughly speaking, the water level will fall.”

Reservoirs for drinking water supply have a reserve of at least several years. For Eastern Crimea, this year they will complete the construction of a water supply tract - an underground water pipeline with a length of 217 km, through which water is pumped from the Nezhinsky, Prostornensky and Novogrigorievsky water intakes to the water treatment plants of Feodosia and Kerch. 195 thousand cubic meters will be enough to provide for the population and tourists not only in these cities, but also in Sudak, Koktebel, Shchebetovka and villages of the Leninsky district.

Simferopol will have enough water from the Vilinsky and Ivanovo water intakes and three reservoirs - Simferopol, Ayansky and Partizansky. The Beshterek-Zuysky water intake has not yet been put into operation, the water from which contains many sand impurities and requires additional filtration. But even without it, there are enough resources for drinking water supply needs.

Agriculture remains the most sensitive to Dnieper water. And here there is nothing to replace the North Crimean Canal, especially in rice growing and fish farming. But the water intake gate is located before the dam of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station, it was not damaged. The main thing is to have access to it to ensure water pumping.

Let us remind you that this year farmers submitted applications for 170 million cubic meters of water, of which 140 million are intended to fill rice paddies in the Krasnoperekopsk region.
