Syrian Gordian Knot

It looks like Syria is becoming a priority issue in US foreign policy. So much of a priority that US State Department Head Kerry will not limit himself to one visit to Moscow. 13-hour negotiations with our Minister Lavrov are not enough for him. At least two more discussions on the Syrian topic are planned for the near future - in Laos and Geneva.

What is it that gnaws at State Department official Kerry, and through him, the entire leadership of the United States? The answer is obvious. Presidential elections in America. Obama's nosebleed needs to be given a final positive result.

His two presidential terms look very unsightly. Having received the Nobeve Peace Prize in advance, he will go down in history not as a peacemaker, but as an instigator of wars and conflicts not only in the Middle East, but also in Eastern Europe. Not having time to extinguish two serious conflicts at the same time, Obama no longer hopes to achieve at least some result in Ukraine by the end of the year, giving Germany and Merkel the dubious pleasure of babysitting and raising the wretched Poroshenko junta, which threatens to be washed away by the completely uncontrollable sewer flow of the proliferating Banderaism.

But the American establishment’s position on Syria is not doing well either. What kind of progress can we talk about if the United States simultaneously wants to increase the level of interaction with Russia in terms of military operations against ISIS, and immediately demand the immediate departure of President Assad. The Americans somehow incomprehensibly managed to calculate that in Syria, which has been torn apart by war for four years, 80% of the population is against Assad.

As soon as Kerry shuts up, the copper-headed head of the Pentagon, Ashton Ketcher, climbs onto the podium and begins to moan about the complete misunderstanding and dissimilarity of the positions of Russia and the United States on Syria. They say that if it were not for Russia, the civil war in Syria could have been stopped long ago.

Of course. All the problems are not from ISIS, the Al-Nusra Front and the smaller Basmachi, but from Assad. Moreover, the Russian Aerospace Forces with their air strikes are violating certain plans of the Pentagon. On June 16, our air forces attacked a terrorist base in the village of At-Tanf, on the border with Jordan. And suddenly it turned out that, in addition to terrorists, for some reason it was chosen by special forces units of the United States and Great Britain. The United States asked the Russian side for clarification.

Explanations and explanations. The strike on the base was carried out because the US military did not indicate this facility among the areas where the Syrian opposition, which is observing the truce regime, operates. In addition, the international coalition to fight ISIS was warned in advance about airstrikes by the Russian Aerospace Forces in this area. There was no reaction from them.

The official representative of the Russian Ministry of Defense, Igor Konashenkov, even clarified: “Representatives of the Russian Ministry of Defense cogently explained that the object that was bombed was located more than 300 km outside the territories declared by the American side as areas in which the opposition operates, having joined the cessation of hostilities regime.” .

Another question: what were several dozen soldiers from British and American special forces doing at the base of terrorists who were not on the list of the legal opposition? And which of them suffered? As the influential The Wall Street Journal reported, citing its own sources, two dozen British commandos left the terrorist base a day before the airstrike. It would be better to say thank you...

Now, to prevent similar embarrassments from happening in the future, the United States really wants interaction and coordination with the Russian side on Air Force operations. And this, apparently, is necessary, especially against the backdrop of the recent operation of retaliation by the French Air Force for the terrorist attack in Nice in the martinet style “I’ll now sort it out properly and punish just anyone,” which resulted in the death of 164 civilians from the village of Tohar, but with confidence as - it doesn’t dance.

How can there be trust if Kerry openly states that the American side cannot distinguish good terrorists from bad ones? But hunting is worse than captivity. And even such anti-Russian mouthpieces as the Wall Street Journal and the Washington Post are talking about the fact that it would be a good idea to first lift sanctions from Russia - then there will be more trust.

We found some simpletons. The USA is the master of its word. He wanted - he gave, he wanted - he took. We've already passed. They may remove it before the end of Obama's reign. And then this crazy fly agaric in a skirt with the surname Clinton will climb into the Oral Office, and there you can expect not only new sanctions, but even worse.

In the meantime, negotiations are negotiations, and the war is on schedule. Some fresh news from the Syrian front.

The AlMasdar News news agency, citing local sources, reported that radical Islamists from the ISIS group had mobilized hundreds of militants the day before to resume an offensive operation southwest of Deir ez-Zor. However, this morning all their hopes and efforts to capture positions in the Jebel Tardeh mountains area were buried by a strike from strategic bombers of the Long-Range Aviation of the Russian Aerospace Forces. In the Tayem Valley area, a large concentration of radical Islamists came under an airstrike by the Russian Aerospace Forces, as a result of which the terrorists were forced to retreat. Several dozen militants died during the bombing.

In addition to the airstrike in the Tayyem Valley, our “strategists” attacked a column of Basmachi armored vehicles in the area of the T-4 military airfield, Homs province. It is noted that armored vehicles were heading north towards Deir ez-Zor in support of the developing offensive. However, reinforcements will not come to the terrorists. Most of the column was destroyed. ISIS militants lost several dozen armored vehicles.

Soldiers of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and their allies inflicted serious damage on the positions of terrorist groups in the industrial zone of the suburb of al-Layramun and expanded their zone of influence in the northwestern part of Aleppo, Farsnews reports.

The Syrian army pushed back the Basmachi from the Shabarq, al-Saqar al-Karmid, al-Sabak, Bana and al-Makhalej areas. At the same time, official representatives of the SAA noted that militants from the al-Nusra Front, Nuriddin al-Zinki and Ahrar al-Sham groups fought in the ranks of the terrorists. The last two groups are “moderate” terrorists presented by the United States as the legal opposition.

The AMN military correspondent, citing a representative of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) special forces unit "Tigers", reported that the Russian Aerospace Forces carried out more than 40 airstrikes on terrorist positions in the areas of Kafr Hamra, Bayanun, Hayyan, Adam Haritan and Anadan. As a result of the assault strikes, more than a dozen armored vehicles and about two dozen Fatah Halab militants were destroyed.

But the Syrian Air Force is not idle either. Front-line bombers of the Syrian Air Force carried out several sorties, the target of which was pockets of Basmachi concentrations in three oil-bearing regions of Homs province, Farsnews reports. It is noted that the Syrian Air Force managed to inflict significant damage on the terrorists and destroy several armored vehicles.

The main blow fell on the al-Shaer and Jazal oil fields. SAA observers noted that the raid also destroyed several vehicles carrying ammunition.

In addition, on the eve of the Syrian Air Force carried out a number of strikes on ISIS positions east of Palmyra, Homs province. Syrian pilots leveled several field camps, as well as more than two dozen militants, as a result of precise bombing strikes. Representatives of the SAA emphasized that thanks to this success, it was possible to prevent an offensive that threatened to jeopardize Palmyra in the area of \uXNUMXb\uXNUMXbthe settlement of Arak.

Victory is still far away. The war continues. Diplomats argue. The UN is inactive.
