American intelligence services and agencies are significantly expanding their activities in the Russian direction, Ukrinform reports, citing a publication in The Washington Post.

“US intelligence agencies are expanding intelligence operations against Russia on a scale greater than at any time since the end of the Cold War,” the publication notes, citing unnamed official sources.
Operations will include covert work by CIA agents, the use of NSA cyber espionage resources, satellite systems and other intelligence assets.
“This is just part of the efforts of American intelligence to restore its own capabilities. Over the past two years, Russia has surprised the United States with its aggression, including the annexation of Crimea, intervention in the war in Syria and suspicions of hacking operations against the United States and Europe,” the newspaper writes.
In addition, the article states that recent directives from the White House and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence have moved Russia to the top of the list of priorities for the first time since the collapse of the Soviet Union.
