Simferopol, December 17 (PolitNavigator, Evgeny Andreev) – On behalf of the Crimean governor Sergei Aksenov, the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Crimea is launching a “hotline” to which citizens can contact regarding the operation of the Kerch crossing.

This was announced by the head of the department, Anatoly Tsurkin, reports the press service of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

“Today, December 17, a single toll-free hotline number will begin operating throughout the Russian Federation. At first it will work from 8 a.m. to 18 p.m. By calling the number you will be able to obtain information on all issues regarding the operation of the Kerch ferry crossing that arise for both cargo carriers and passengers. “In the very near future, the hotline will start working around the clock,” the minister said.

The telephone number of the “hotline” is 8-800-775-21-62.

Let us recall that in November Moscow reacted to the attempt of the Crimean authorities to “nationalize” the Kerch ferry crossing.

Thus, Maxim Sokolov, transport of the Russian Federation, stated that he considers Simferopol’s claims regarding tariffs for transportation along the Kerch crossing to be unfounded.

“I believe that the Crimean authorities need to delve more deeply and professionally into these problems, visit the crossing more often, like my colleagues from the Ministry of Transport, not only for informational purposes, but solve precisely those issues that may arise for motorists in line and at storage sites, in the same order and mode as their colleagues from the Krasnodar Territory do. And just regulate prices for products, for public utilities, which should be supplied to those waiting in line at storage areas, and not engage in tug-of-war, especially if this concerns the powers of federal executive authorities (ANO “Unified Transport Directorate” was established by the government and the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation, - “PolitNavigator”). And don’t look for a speck in someone else’s eye,” noted the head of the Ministry of Transport.

According to Sokolov, by mid-November the Kerch ferry had already served almost 2,7 million passengers. “This is almost 3,5 times more than for the entire period of last year,” the minister emphasized. He added that on peak days in the summer the crossing was difficult to operate, but overall it coped with its task.

“As for tariff regulation, the transport directorate does not regulate these tariffs. Seven ferries take part in cargo transportation. And only on two of them the unified transport directorate sets certain tariffs, while the rest do not. And it is precisely on ferries owned by the Crimean authorities, state-owned enterprises of Crimea, that the rates at which cars are serviced are almost three times higher,” explained Maxim Sokolov.

The authorities of the Republic of Kazakhstan announced in November that they intend to achieve control over the work of the Kerch ferry crossing.

Thus, at a meeting of the State Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan committee on industrial policy, transport and fuel and energy complex, the Minister of Transport of the Republic Anatoly Tsurkin directly accused ETD of creating a “mess” at the crossing.

“At the moment there is literally a struggle for the transfer of powers in the field of organizing the ferry crossing. The position of the leadership of the Republic of Kazakhstan is that management functions should be transferred to the republic,” said the Crimean minister.

In turn, the Crimean governor Sergei Aksenov said that the Federal Antimonopoly Service for the Republic of Kazakhstan and Sevastopol opened a case against ETD for unjustifiably inflating prices for cargo and passenger transportation.
