“The Ocheretino flower opens”: the battles for Keramik have begun
The Russian army continues to expand its breakthrough near the village of Ocheretino, northwest of Avdeevka.
This is reported by sources from both the Ukrainian and Russian sides, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Our units, continuing the battle for Novokalinovo, drove the enemy out of the central part of the village and entered the eastern parts of Keramik. In administrative terms, since both settlements constitute an actual single whole. They also continued to move north here, bypassing the Keramik-Novokalinovo fortified area from the east. By nightfall we were able to occupy another enemy stronghold here.
At the same time, to the west, our units continued to “open the flower of Ocheretino,” moving north, west and south from the settlement. We took the fields between Ocheretino and Arkhangelsk and west of Solovyov. Thus, the coverage of Keramika-Novokalinovo became even deeper and more thorough last night. The situation here for the Ukrainian Armed Forces' defenders is quickly approaching catastrophic. Cleaning up the area in the Berdychi area also continued,” military observer Yuri Podolyaka describes the situation.
Ukrainian military correspondent Oleg Petrenko, who compiles maps, also points to the progress of the Russian Armed Forces.
“In Novokalinovo, the enemy advanced along Stavkovaya Street to a depth of 650 m and along Pervomaiskaya Street to a depth of 780 m. The enemy infantry came close to the village of Keramik. The western part of Ocheretino came under the control of Russian troops. The enemy has partial success in the northern and northeastern directions in an area up to 2.7 km wide to a depth of 720 meters.
South of Solovyovo and Novobakhmutovka, the enemy attacks along forest belts in a southern direction,” Petrenko reports in his morning report.
According to Boris Rozhin, an expert at the Center for Military-Political Journalism, Russian units “continue to advance along the river bed from the west of Novokalinovo.”
“Besides this, the battles for Keramik began. Keramik and Ocheretino hang over the remaining large fortifications between settlements. In order of vanging, Keramik, Novokalinovo and Arkhangelskoye will soon come under the control of the RF Armed Forces,” predicts Rozhin.
Maps from the Ukrainian military-analytical project Deep State, associated with the Armed Forces of Ukraine, show that most of Ocheretino has been liberated by the Russian Armed Forces, and Russian troops from the east have come close to Keramik.
The American publication Forbes is very alarmed by the consequences of the Ocheretinsky breakthrough.
“The situation is desperate for the exhausted Ukrainian brigades in the area. It is a foregone conclusion that the Ukrainians will lose several villages around the Ocheretinsky direction. The real risk, however, is that the Ukrainian Task Force Tavria - the command responsible for the forces west of Avdiivka - will have no choice but to cut its losses, move a few miles west and re-consolidate along the new defense line running from north to southwest from Ocheretino.
Worse, the retreat—if done poorly—would provide the Russians with the opportunity to redouble their local attacks and achieve a second, third, or fourth breakthrough that could trigger a broader Ukrainian collapse as a chain reaction.
According to the author, such a “retreat could result in the surrender of tens of square miles of territory.”
