According to the newspaper, the Crimean prosecutor's office, in connection with the decision of the International Court of Justice on July 10, appealed to the main department of the Ministry of Justice for Crimea and Sevastopol with a request to clarify the decision of the Crimean Supreme Court to ban the Mejlis.

At the same time, current Crimean politicians from among the Crimean Tatars support the decision to ban the Mejlis.

Thus, the chairman of the State Committee for Nationalities of Crimea, Zaur Smirnov, called himself a supporter of the ban on the Mejlis, but said that he could not comment on the court’s decision. According to him, a whole group of “so-called human rights defenders” has been deployed in Crimea, among whom he named lawyers Mark Feigin, Nikolai Polozov, who are actively working to protect members of the Mejlis and Hizb ut-Tahrir, recognized in The Russian Federation and a number of Western countries are terrorist.

“Behind their actions are the Kyiv authorities and anti-Russian organizations that are interested in creating a negative agenda about Crimea and the Crimean Tatars in the Western media,” Smirnov believes.

In turn, Russian State Duma deputy from Crimea Ruslan Balbek told the publication that Russian justice “does not reconsider its decisions on extremists and terrorists.”

“Let human rights activists and lawyers like Polozov at the UN even raise a paper blizzard from their scribblings,” Belbek added.
