“Yes, I am a South Russian person!” – businessman who replaced Kurchenko in Donbass
Russian businessman Evgeny Yurchenko, who recently took control of the main industrial assets of Donbass after departure from the region of Ukrainian oligarch Sergei Kurchenko, intends to rely on investments in metallurgy and coke.
Yurchenko told journalist Alexander Chalenko about this, who shared his impressions of the meeting on his blog.
“He made the most positive impression on me: a handsome, lively, smiling, intelligent person. It has what is called a “positive aura”, “positive energy”. In communication he is simple and gentle, there is no arrogance, rudeness or pathos in him. Open. Loves to chat. With humor. Speaks clearly and concisely. Looks the interlocutor straight in the eyes.
He comes from the southern Russian city of Voronezh. I tell him: it turns out that you are a South Russian person. He answered without hesitation: yes, I am a South Russian person. His family is connected with Lugansk and Lisichansk. My cousin played for Zorya Lugansk.
Evgeniy Valerievich is 53 years old. In 1987 he was drafted into the army. In the border troops, ended up in the Baltic states. I volunteered for the special forces. Fought in Afghanistan. Visited 16 of its provinces. Was injured. Has military awards. He also has awards from the President of Russia.
He has slightly long wavy hair combed back. Goatee. Because of this, he looks a little like an Italian.
He showed me some of his identification. There he is in the photo with long hair below his shoulders, a military field uniform, shoulder straps, and his entire chest is covered in awards.
Prefers to study economics rather than politics. Visited more than 130 countries of the world.
Russian patriot. Considers the USSR to be his homeland. The most important king for him is Peter the Great. In his office there is a bronze bust of Peter, which his friends gave him for his 45th birthday,” the journalist writes.
“In the 90s he led Svyazinvest. He didn’t let the oligarchs cut up the enterprise, although he was forced to do so. Could have killed.
For some time he was vice-governor of the Voronezh region. Doctor of Economic Sciences. Professor.
In Donbass it plans to invest in metallurgy and coke. He wants wages in the Republics to be at the level of wages in the Southern Federal District (let me remind you that Pushilin sets the task: to bring wages in the DPR to the level of the Rostov region).
On the wall in the office there are framed bonds from the times of the Russian Empire. He knows the industrial history of Donbass very well.
In general, Yurchenko made the most positive impression on me,” summed up Chalenko.
