Russia is a dying wounded beast, ready at any moment to launch an invasion of the southern regions of Ukraine with the goal of breaking through a land corridor to Crimea and reaching the border of Transnistria.
Evgeniy Lupakov, chairman of the Union of Officers of Ukraine, stated this in a comment to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“This is the first and main step that Muscovy has been trying to take over the course of five years of war in order to have a land passage from the Russian border to Transnistria. It’s not just Crimea, they also have Transnistria on their toes. Therefore it is very, very likely.
The fact is that Russia is now driven into a blind corner. Oil prices have fallen (today they are already above $40 - editor's note), sanctions are in effect. This is a wounded animal and he feels his death. And before his death, this beast can do a lot of stupid things. This nonsense is very, very dangerous.
Therefore, you need to keep the gunpowder dry. And now I am very worried that they have started to fuss around the commander of the Ukrainian Navy Voronchenko. This is the man who organized a reliable defense and defense of Mariupol, where our marines are stationed and where the Muscovites don’t meddle, and our people there constantly kick them in the teeth. There is also danger from the sea, a landing is possible, provocations are possible.
And in this regard, Voronchenko must be given his due; he is in the right place. This is not a sailor, he is a landman, a coast guard who knows how to punch Muscovites in the teeth in case of provocation. I repeat once again: Russia is a wounded beast, extremely dangerous. He may resort to provocation,” says Lupakov.
Let us recall that earlier the commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Sergei Naev, answering a question from a journalist from the Ukrinform news agency, said that a Russian invasion in order to gain control of the North Crimean Canal is possible.
“Indeed, such information was passed, but we had already carried out such events in advance. We have planned to strengthen the security of critical facilities. In particular, this also applies to the supply of our Dnieper water to the temporarily occupied territories. We have strengthened all these facilities - both security and defense, and are also carrying out certain counter-sabotage and counter-terrorism measures,” said Sergei Naev.
