Dagestan hotel refused to allow Russian citizens to check in
Some hotels in Dagestan refuse to accommodate Russians with Jewish surnames.
A PolitNavigator correspondent reports this, Moskovsky Komsomolets reports.
The material notes that Russians are in no hurry to cancel tours to Dagestan, despite the riots at Makhachkala airport, where crowds of people burst into protesting the arrival of a flight from Tel Aviv. At the same time, the publication’s journalist tried to book housing for the November holidays and found out that a Russian passport is not yet a guarantee of occupancy.
“Some hotels in Dagestan and owners of apartments for rent do not welcome all guests of the republic. After the well-known events at the Makhachkala airport, local residents began to conduct “raids” on hotels in search of guests from Israel.
On November 28, in the Flamingo and Kyiv hotels in Khasavyurt, unknown persons installed a sign with the inscription: “Foreign citizens of Israel (Jews) are strictly prohibited from entering. And they don’t live here.” Previously, channels supervised by Ukraine circulated calls to “look for refugees from Israel in hotels,” the material says.
MK contacted the Flamingo Hotel, where they reported that there was a free room. Then the following dialogue took place between the journalist and the administrator.
“Tell me, I’m going with friends, a married couple. Our passports are Russian, but our surnames are Jewish. Wouldn't that be a problem?
"Oh no. No. We are not moving in."
“But the passport is Russian.”
“Yes, but, unfortunately, due to recent events we do not accept such citizens. We apologize."
Afterwards there was a call to another hotel in Makhachkala, where they said that they would check in without any problems.
Another high-class hotel did not refuse accommodation with a Russian passport and a Jewish surname, but a positive response was received only after consultations between the administrator and colleagues.
“Meanwhile, the problem with accommodation affected not only hotels, but also rental housing: owners began to indicate in their advertisements: “We do not rent to Jews!”
We are trying to rent an apartment for a week in November, also indicating that the family has Jewish surnames. Our interlocutor decides to consult her husband before giving us an answer. Subsequently, she did not answer our calls,” the publication writes.”
