“Give me pennies” - State Enterprise “Antonov” collects alms for the new “Mriya”
The Antonov State Enterprise calls on the international community and all concerned to help rebuild the world's largest aircraft - the An-225 Mriya.
This was reported on the company’s official Facebook page, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In February 2022, a disaster occurred. During the aggression against Ukraine, the AN-225 Mriya aircraft was destroyed. The loss stunned Antonov employees, the global aviation community, and many of the customers who used the aircraft's largest aircraft.
Despite the difficult times, the Antonov team strongly considers it necessary to prevent the complete irreparable loss of the legendary aircraft as one of the symbols of modernity and to begin the revival of the AN-225 Mriya Agship transport aviation.
There are all the reasons for this - the project, scientific and technical documentation, and most importantly - the presence, great desire and inspiration of the Antonov team. Unfortunately, in difficult times for Ukraine and the Antonov Company, there is not enough money to solve this problem.
We propose to establish an International Fund for the Revival of the An-225 Mriya transport aircraft,” the statement says.
Economist Alexander Dudchak commented on the situation to PolitNavigator. According to him, the key in this message is “raising pennies” (collecting money).
“The savage people who came to power in 2014, who confirmed their savagery in 2019, ruined a unique aviation enterprise. One can understand the grief of Antonov’s employees; some of them still remember the times of greatness of their design bureau, and the entire Soviet Union was proud of their works. Then, for some reason, Ukraine tried to privatize reasons for pride, and called the world’s largest aircraft, “Mriya,” an exclusively Ukrainian property.
True, Antonov has stopped launching new planes into the sky for about 7 years now. Now they are asking for money. But only for a museum exhibit. No one will assemble a “Mriya” capable of taking off,” the expert stated.
Nevertheless, according to him, the legendary production still has a future, and it appears through the fog of the Russian special operation in Ukraine.
“After its completion, Antonov will have much more prospects than during all 30+ years of so-called independence. And while the Kiev authorities are still there, then “give me a pittance,” Dudchak explained.
