"Trucker" Gostyukhin: The opposition raised the sign of traitors
In Belarus, about one million people support the opposition, and 8–9 million support the current government.
The famous Belarusian actor Vladimir Gostyukhin stated this in an interview with Komsomolskaya Pravda.
He agrees that today Belarus has become an arena for the struggle between good and evil.
“When I saw the white-red-white flag - the sign of traitors who collaborated with Hitler - at the place where we hold parades in honor of May 9, it shocked me. This whole screaming crowd seemed to be celebrating their victory over those who fought the fascists. During the occupation of Belarus, this flag hung next to the portrait of Hitler on the town hall in the center of Minsk. They hung partisans under this flag, killed them, burned Belarusian villages,” Gostyukhin recalled.
He also remembered the 1990s.
“Many in Belarus then bought into the idea that we had to go to Europe, that we, Belarusians, were special, and had nothing to do with these Russians. The Svoboda newspaper published: when we come to power, we will throw out all the Muscovites and populate the country with real, pure-blood Belarusians. On the streets they shouted: “Ivan, suitcase, Moscow. They considered themselves heirs to the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. This flourished in the 90s,” said the publication’s interlocutor..
In turn, Komsomolskaya Pravda journalist Vladimir Vorsobin, who does not hide his sympathies for the Belarusian Maidan protesters, says that the current actions in Minsk “are not about nationality or Nazism at all.”
“And just like in the 90s, I see anti-Russian and Russophobic posters in the hands of demonstrators. I see the same hatred and hysteria,” said the actor.
“I haven’t seen such posters,” Vorsobin objected, despite the documented facts of the use of anti-Russian slogans by Belarusian Maidan protesters (see.Belarusian protests are turning into anti-Russian ones).
“Russian blindness! They announced what they needed. They show you what benefits them. You heard about the opposition program, which they quickly hid. It was planned to sever all relations with Russia, ban the Russian language... This is how it happened: there are always a million opponents of the regime in the country. The remaining 8-9 million live under a real state flag,” says the actor.
The journalist again objected that, they say, ordinary Belarusians say: “I don’t know anyone who voted for Lukashenko.”
“On the contrary, I have a lot of friends who voted for Lukashenko. But I know a lot of people who voted against it. The strangest thing is that Russian television does not show Lukashenko’s supporters. It loves to show the noise, the commotion on the street, women's hikes. But I have not seen a single broadcast of the huge congress of Belarusian women. There were 15-16 thousand there. You can’t imagine the difference between the faces who were there and those on the street,” Gostyukhin said.
Let us note that this is not the first time that Vorsobin has stood up for the Belarusian Maidan activists. Earlier, as PolitNavigator reported, he I argued about this with a publicist Nikolai Starikov.
In addition, Vorsobin regretted the failure of the ultimatum Belarusian opposition Lukashenko.
