Danylyuk called for reconciliation: Ukraine’s gas transportation system is coming to an end
The demise of the Ukrainian gas transportation system is only a matter of time, since the bypass gas pipelines built by Russia will become fully operational.
Former Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, ex-Minister of Finance Alexander Danilyuk stated this on air on the Lvov NTA TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Danilyuk, purchases of Russian gas by European countries, bypassing Ukraine, is a colossal blow to its energy sector.
“We have our gas transportation system. Once Russia has built several “streams” to bypass our system, it is only a matter of time before they kill our gas transportation system. It's only a matter of time. What are they doing now? They are ready to offer any price to the Hungarians, it could be Slovaks or others,” Danyluk said.
“They are ready to sell this gas even for zero in order to release gas through the new “stream” - Nord Stream 2 - during the next season. They need to load it up and limit transit through our gas transportation system. Because this will create colossal risks for us, it could create a colossal energy crisis, it could kill the energy sector. This is what Russia needs, and they are ready to pay for it,” the ex-minister believes.
“That’s the huge problem. It’s a pity to blame the Hungarians for something, but the fact that they allowed it to be completed, that they simply played a giveaway, is a crime. But it’s too late to drink Borjomi - now they are all coming out with statements - the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, NJSC Naftogaz, yes we will fight, yes we are for sanctions - change the rhetoric already. It is already clear that what are the sanctions now? Let's think about what we will do when Russia limits gas supplies. And this will definitely happen,” Danilyuk said.
