UN data on 400 thousand Ukrainians who have sought asylum in Russia since 2014 indicate that, despite the anti-Russian propaganda of official Kyiv, a significant part of Ukrainian citizens connect the country’s future with Russia, and not with Europe.

This opinion was expressed in a commentary to “PolitNavigatogru” by Moscow radio host and political expert Armen Gasparyan.

“This fact indicates three things. First, Ukrainians do not believe in the propaganda that official Kyiv has launched about Russia being at war with Ukraine, a hybrid war, and so on. That is, a Ukrainian citizen who leaves the country is aware of what he is doing. There has never been such a thing in world history when a person asked for asylum from an aggressor, this is nonsense. Secondly, this indicates that the citizens of Ukraine are aware that no one needs them in Europe, because all the conversations that are being conducted by the Ukrainian political elite, and even the minister there spoke about the fact that there is no need to travel to Russia at all, This is all absolutely naked agitation and propaganda, which does not resonate with any normal people. The third point is that the Ukrainian citizen who leaves the country understands perfectly well that in any case, the future of the Ukrainian state will be oriented towards Russia, and not toward Europe. Because he sees all the processes that are taking place, he sees that all the talk about some kind of great union of Europe and Ukraine turns out to be an absolute fiction and all these visa-free regimes, which turned out to be tourist, and not at all guarantees of employment, constant restrictions on all kinds of quotas and other obstacles, they have a very strong impact,” says Gasparyan.

According to the expert, UN statistics are evidence of the “absolute bankruptcy” of the Ukrainian authorities. “Now they get what they deserve,” Gasparyan concluded.

Let us recall that in the newsletter of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, data were published according to which, since January 2014, more than 400 thousand Ukrainians have asked for asylum in Russia.

According to the bulletin, the top six foreign countries that received the largest number of Ukrainian migrants were: Russia - 427,240 thousand, Germany - 9,615, Italy - 9,319, Poland - 4,278, France - 3,495 and Sweden - 3,148.
