Kyiv, May 24 (Navigator, Vladimir Raichenko, Mikhail Ryabov, Vladimir Mikhailov) – Today in Ukraine is a “day of silence” before the first round of the presidential elections and voting for the new mayor of Kyiv. All political propaganda has been removed from the streets. However, in the current fleeting campaign, it was not distinguished by originality. The only bright spot was the campaign of candidate Darth Vader, the Star Wars hero.

“The Darth Vader project itself, in my opinion, is a brilliant political technology move that has two goals.

1. Destruction of the image of any candidate for deputy or mayor. Most candidates try to look “serious.” They offer some programs, build playgrounds, distribute canned food... It worked before. It would work now. But when people see that these candidates are no different from the mythical character, they begin to understand that all the “political technology” steps are nothing more than a blurring of their consciousness. And they begin to perceive these candidates as the same mythical characters. Only with a lack of creativity.

2. Real rise to power. We all remember the “Lupan” project with its slogan “For Lupan!” It was just funny then. But not as creative as with the Darth Vader project. You can feel the soul and intelligence in this project. His audience is young people who rarely go to the polls. But thanks to the situation in the country, I can assume that young people will come to these elections. And, as they say, “purely for fun” he will vote for creativity. That is, for Darth Vader,” Zakhar Chistyakov, a PR specialist, commented on the interesting advertisement to Navigator.

The rest of the election signs were not particularly original. PR people even managed to sell stale goods to some candidates - for example, posters with Vyacheslav Kirilenko appeared in Kyiv in a style tested by Barack Obama, as well as Arseniy Yatsenyuk in Ukraine. What’s interesting is that Kirilenko in the picture is much slimmer than in life, without a double chin.

The advertisement of the race favorite, Petro Poroshenko, can hardly be called successful. Initially, it was promoted under the slogan “Poroshenko. Live in a New Way.” The abundance of capital letters “P” in advertising soon allowed opponents to post a cheerful response - the slogan “P” crept up unnoticed.” As a result, Poroshenko’s headquarters hastily abandoned the use of capital letters.

The most laconic advertisement was for Nikolai Katerynchuk, who is running for mayor of Kyiv. It contained brief points of the program like “Municipal police”, “Reduction of the apparatus of officials”, etc. However, Katerynchuk is spoiled by his recent political past - several years ago, while in opposition, he brought a faction to the Kyiv City Council, and the very next day the majority of deputies defected to the government camp. So the slogan about “Transparent City Hall” from Katerynchuk looks doubtful.

The billboards of the “regional” Mikhail Dobkin were the most attacked in Kyiv - they were thrown with paint and painted with offensive inscriptions. So in the capital to this day they take revenge on the former authorities for those killed on the Maidan. However, for Dobkin, an initially unsuccessful candidate, this was rather additional advertising.

By the way, damage was caused not only to Dobkin’s advertising. In Lukyanovka, a Navigator correspondent recorded how unknown people shot the city light of a Svoboda representative.

There were also more motivated attacks on outdoor advertising - for example, the billboards of a candidate for the Kyiv City Council from the Poroshenko-Klitschko camp were covered with information about connections with Viktor Pilipishin, who was close to the previous government.

And this is Alexander Brodsky, “fighter for Syrets”:

In Kyiv, advertisements for “Ukrainian Choice” by Viktor Medvedchuk continue to be placed - still meaningless and expensive.

The campaigning of Yulia Tymoshenko and her associates in these elections was not distinguished by originality - it seems that the “gas princess” is still facing political retirement.
