“It’s high time”: LPR welcomes negotiations on Donbass without Zelensky’s participation
Reports in the press about the possibility of negotiations between Russia, France and Germany on the Donbass without the participation of Ukraine inspire optimism.
The special representative of the LPR at the negotiations in Minsk on Donbass, Rodion Miroshnik, stated this on the Rossiya 1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“It would be much more intense and more effective... For almost seven years, the Ukrainian side has been the main anchor and brake for reaching any agreements,” Miroshnik said.
“That is, the three of them could develop other approaches. The main thing is to create conditions for a settlement in Donbass so that it does not turn into bloodshed. Therefore, Russia should focus its efforts on the Normandy format (without Ukraine - ed.) and give the republics the opportunity to conduct a dialogue with Ukraine in the Contact Group,” the diplomat said.
Earlier it became known that Russian President Vladimir Putin plans to hold a meeting with the leaders of France Emanuel Macron and Germany Angela Merkel, at which they will discuss, among other things, issues of the conflict in Donbass.
