Even having violated the constitution, the Rada failed the vote on social protection for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Due to the lack of people in the hall, the Verkhovna Rada failed to vote on the law on social protection of Ukrainian military personnel and police officers.
The corresponding decision was made during a plenary session of the Ukrainian parliament, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
During the consideration of the document, Golos deputy Yulia Klimenko was indignant that it would not be possible to accept it, and Ukrainian soldiers would again be left without support.
“This is an important law because it affects every warrior who is now on the front line. This concerns vacations, this concerns their children, this concerns social benefits and much more.
But in our hall we have a maximum of 70, I don’t know, maybe 100 deputies. The law, which concerns the people who protect you and me every day, so that we could be present in the hall, could discuss something, could pass laws, and in general we could exist under a peaceful sky in Kiev and in other cities, is virtually no one considering .
This is a disgrace to parliament, a disgrace! Because we have to work with you, like all people, 8 hours a day. And just like, excuse me, it appears in our report cards, where each deputy is given an “8”. And therefore, our task here is to work 8 hours a day and consider not three resolutions a day, but 15-20 bills, important ones: on the social protection of people, veterans.
There is no veteran policy, veteran protection, social standards, an incomprehensible situation regarding demobilization, according to the Law on Demobilization. And all this takes as much as, today we are working with you, 1 hour. A shame!" – said Klimenko
In turn, MP from Batkivshchyna Sergei Vlasenko said that this parliamentary meeting should not be held at all and is illegal.
“I want to remind you that there is a decision of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, which defines the concept of a sessional meeting. And according to this definition, during any sessional meeting, the number of people’s deputies necessary to make a decision must be in the hall, and this means 226 or 150 if this decision is procedural. This is a remark to the presidium,” the deputy was indignant.
Nevertheless, the vote took place. The document was supported by only 41 deputies, and in the end the bill failed.
