Even recognition of Crimea as Russian will not return Donbass to Ukraine

Vladimir Kopchak, an expert at the Center for the Study of the Army, Conversion and Disarmament, stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In our situation, we only have the option of escalating events. With the application to issue passports, the Kremlin is actually preparing the ground for a further escalatory scenario. I would not even rule out the option of annexation. I would not talk about timing now, because the Kremlin’s strategy consists of a capitulation option on the part of Kyiv, the return of all of Ukraine in the form of a federation to the orbit of its own geopolitical interests.
But you need to clearly understand: now you can very often hear from our hybrid partners that give up Crimea and Donbass will return to you in 15 minutes. There is no need to have rose-colored glasses with this option. With this option, the Kremlin will never agree to the reintegration of these territories into Ukraine on Kyiv’s terms, and not on its own terms,” Kopchak said.
