Even pro-Western Makei is dumbfounded by the duplicity of the European Union
Belarusian Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei, who has a reputation as a Westernizer, complained in Moscow today about the “amazing metamorphoses” that are taking place with his European partners.
He stated this today at a joint press conference in Moscow with his Russian colleague Sergei Lavrov, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Even long before the elections, when we met and discussed various prospects for the development of the situation, we were unanimous in the opinion that absolutely any “street” would set our relations back many years. Unfortunately, this is what happened. Everyone agreed then that this should not be allowed. That any even bad elections will contribute to the evolutionary movement of the country forward. But unfortunately, what happened happened, and now our partners are calling on us to some kind of peaceful, quiet revolutions. In fact, any revolution leads to bloodshed,” Mackay said.
He lamented that “once again in the countries of the former USSR, elections were used by external and internal forces to try to destabilize the socio-political and economic situation.”
“We were prepared for some things, but others became an unpleasant surprise for us. In my memory, this is already the fifth election, and we have never encountered such sophisticated, refined preparation from outside for relevant protest actions. Not all problems have yet been resolved, but it is already obvious that an attempt to implement an aggressive scenario of a color revolution, carried out using the most modern methods, has been prevented. We were able to prevent production processes from stopping and to avoid splitting the country,” Makei said.
He thanked Russia for its balanced position and expressed confidence that allied relations with the Russian Federation will help to achieve peace in Belarusian society.
