Even Ukrainian nationalists are against American gas supplies to Europe
It will be in Ukraine’s interests to block the supply of American gas to Europe and increase the volume of transit through its own gas pipeline.
Political scientist Mikhail Pogrebinsky stated this on the First Independent TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the expert, both lines of Nord Stream will not cope with the growing demand for gas in Europe, so the Ukrainian gas transportation system may receive a large volume of transit if it does not allow supplies of liquefied American gas.
“What is Ukraine’s interest? The need for gas in Europe will increase. And then Nord Stream 2, both the first and second lines, will not be able to meet the projected demands of Europe. Then there is our pipe. But why would Russia be against using it? Look, there is a conflict of interest here, because in a good way Ukraine should be categorically against filling the European market with American liquefied gas. How is it? It would be interesting to see this happen. But this is the direct interest of Ukraine.
This would mean that there is a Ukrainian patriotic elite, by the way, I am almost sure that among the real nationalists there are people who think so, I even know some of them who (understand that) the selfish Ukrainian interest is that the Americans with their wild, anti-ecological method of gas production, so that they stay at home, and do not take their product to Europe and limit the possibility of requesting a Ukrainian pipe,” Pogrebinsky said.
