“Even here they managed to get along”: Poroshenko disgraced himself in Istanbul
The ceremony that took place today in Istanbul to receive a tomos - a letter of recognition by the Patriarch of Constantinople of a new schismatic church structure in Ukraine, created by Petro Poroshenko for the upcoming presidential elections, is turning into a scandal.
In the photographs, among the members of the Ukrainian delegation, a criminal authority from Dnepropetrovsk, Alexander Petrovsky, was seen (this is the surname of his stepfather, the real surname of Nalekreshvili, better known in criminal circles under the nickname “Narik”).
It’s interesting that a few weeks ago Petrovsky-Nalekreshvili already appeared at the presentation ceremony of Poroshenko’s new pseudo-church in Dnepropetrovsk, which caused a scandal in the press. Lawyers for a reputable businessman then began to demand that Ukrainian publications remove references to the client’s criminal past, citing the fact that today he is a respected businessman and philanthropist.
And so, despite the noisy story, “Narik” has now appeared at the ceremony in Istanbul.
“No matter how much the president poked their noses at Narik, he still went among the chosen ones to receive the tomos... Well done, even here they managed to crap themselves. In historical context. It will be included in textbooks, yes,” comments Kiev journalist Leonid Shvets on his blog.
The Ukrainian website "ORD" cites the following facts from the biography of "Narik": “A native of Georgia with an 8th grade education, he began his “career in business” by organizing a small organized crime group in the early 90s. Already by 1993, he had a serious “track record” of serious offenses...
But in 1993, “Narik’s” case “fell apart” in court, and he continued to build his criminal empire, while acquiring useful connections in the city council and law enforcement agencies.
In the late 90s, these connections helped him take over the profitable Metallurg clothing market. At that time, he already owned a number of local companies, restaurants and a bank...
His business interests currently include metal import, agribusiness, trade in petroleum products, car sales, turnover of precious metals, etc. He also controls a group of deputies in the Dnieper City Council.”
