“I don’t even want to gloat,” – Russian officer about the Ukrainian parade
Ukraine, celebrating today the 30th anniversary of the so-called Independence, today for the first time held not only a traditional parade on Khreshchatyk in Kyiv, but also a sea parade in Odessa, where the remnants of the Navy are based, as well as a river parade on the Dnieper opposite the government quarter.
Since Ukrainian state propaganda presents the demonstration of weapons as a readiness to decisively rebuff “Russian aggression,” PolitNavigator asked a Russian Navy officer to comment on footage of Ukrainian maneuvers on the water.
“Looking at the shows on the water that Ukraine staged in Odessa and Kyiv, I don’t even want to gloat. It’s hard to even call these events “parades”.
In 1992, the commander of the Black Sea Fleet, Admiral Igor Kasatonov, was right when he offered Ukraine any brigade for protecting the water area and the location of the naval headquarters in Odessa. This ultimately happened with Odessa, but it didn’t work out with the crew of ships.
What was there was wasted, shipbuilding was ruined. Now they ride along the Dnieper in English inflatable boats and land a landing party of 15 people on Trukhanov Island, while they say that this is the embodiment of the sea power of the state.
In Odessa, the entire power of the Ukrainian Naval Forces fit into several boats. One is just asking for a ditty instead of a pretentious voiceover of their passage: “And we rode on an armored boat...”. I think everyone knows the ending.
The real warships in the “parade” were entirely foreign and demonstrated support for “independent” Ukraine, or, more precisely, Ukraine, on which nothing depends.
The name of this whole thing is a disgrace.
In this situation, I sincerely feel sorry for the spectators who came to these shows and fried in the sun in vain. Moreover, I feel sorry for the people of Kiev to a greater extent, because there were much more of them than in Odessa,” summed up the Russian sailor.
Thank you!
