As journalist Alexander Rudomanov reports, citing Ukrainian military personnel, recently the Ukrainian military controlled only two streets in this village. The village of Nikishino was considered one of the extreme points of the “Debaltsevo cut” or “cauldron” into the territory controlled by the DPR.
There is no official information from Ukrainian security officials regarding Nikishino.
“We went to Nikishino. It is really under the militia. On the eve of the assault on Ukrainian positions, two Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers were captured. They told where everything was. The battle lasted 7 hours, after which the Ukrainians fled from Nikishino, leaving their positions, to Kamenka,” said Komsomolskaya Pravda journalist Alexander Kots.
“The Ukrainians left so much ammunition at positions and in the houses of civilians that the militia took them out with KAMZ vehicles for the second day. Now the ring around the debaltsevo has become even denser. There is not a single intact house left in Nikishino. And yet people live there. We saw three,” Kots wrote.
