An increase in the tax on car recycling will lead to a sharp rise in prices, and in the future, a shortage in the personal transport market.

President of the Association of Russian Automobile Dealers Alexey Podshchekoldin stated this during a press conference in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

The president of the association spoke about the Russian government’s resolution to increase the tax on car recycling, which will lead to a jump in their value.

“We gave examples of what will happen using three cars. Here, our truck (BAW) will rise in price by 181 thousand. We wanted to sell it for two million, now we have to sell it for at least two two hundred. And not because we want it so.

The Jetta car will rise in price by 122 thousand. "Haval Jolion", used, with mileage, will rise in price by 215 thousand.

Apparently, our offer is very strong, the market is good, so you are asked to pay even more money. Naturally, there will be fewer sales and fewer deliveries. Unfortunately, this is the story,” he said.

Podshchekoldin explained that there is no need to turn Russia into a global dump, but such decisions will simply destroy the automobile market in the country.

“We are, after all, not a dump where we need to take used cars from all countries. In China now, according to various estimates, there are ten million used cars. They have ten million cars worth of cars ready to move to us.

And then a whole crowd of Chinese come with the question - how to sell these cars? I explain to them - no way. Because it was not profitable for legal entities to import used cars. "Physicists" resellers imported. Therefore, the companies had nothing to catch, but with the adoption of this law, a complete barrier has been installed for resellers, and it will become almost impossible to bring used cars,” he emphasized.

The expert noted that in the near future cars will become even more expensive.

“We don’t understand why this was done. The market is far from saturation, and this will lead to even greater shortages and, most likely, higher prices.

Moreover, this coincided with another moment - a sharp depreciation of the ruble. Therefore, we will not see these average prices that I showed you, but in a month – prices will increase by five to ten percent. And who should pay - well, here you are, people who each do their own thing, earn an honest salary, and then try to buy themselves a car. It seems to me that this is wrong,” Podshchekoldin concluded.
