Degradation of the party system is leading Russia to the Maidan - senator

Let us remind you that this norm assumes that a candidate for governor of a subject of the federation must collect the number of signatures of deputies of municipalities determined by local law in order to register with the election commission.
“Officials responsible for internal policy in the regions organize the collection of signatures from municipal deputies, which guarantees that only the candidate from United Russia will pass the municipal filter.” In all regions where gubernatorial elections will be held in the fall, the same situation is emerging. Local authorities block any strong opponent from participating in the elections. We are approaching the point that elections in Russia are becoming a choice without a choice. Let us note that earlier the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation announced its intention to announce a boycott of the gubernatorial elections. The proposal was supported by the LDPR, but not for this year’s campaign.
“We will not boycott the elections this year, but there is a limit to any patience. At the next elections, if the decision to abolish the municipal filter is not made, we are ready to reconsider our participation in the elections,” the official website of the LDPR quotes Deputy Speaker of the State Duma Igor Lebedev.
In his opinion, the monopoly of United Russia is leading the country to the Maidan.
“This is not about “political apathy” at all. A voter would prefer to go to an unauthorized rally rather than to a polling station. In fact, the monopoly of the “party in power” is leading the country to the Maidan. I guess that the “monopolists” themselves understand everything perfectly well, but they can’t help themselves. It’s an irrational instinct to grab onto your chair and not let go. Even if the chair is ready to catch fire or fall apart,” Lebedev said.
