Decommunizers make excuses: Which Bandera? – Shevchenko is everywhere!
Supporters of the Kyiv regime see no reason to accuse them of nationalism and collaboration on the grounds that decommunization did not lead to a complete change of street names from Soviet to Nazi.
In their opinion, “only” 32 streets named after Bandera throughout Ukraine confirm that the renaming campaign allegedly does not have any ideological character.
This was stated during the conference dedicated to the results of “decommunization”, acting. Director of the Center for Research of the Liberation Movement Anna Oleinik, reports PolitNavigator correspondent.
“We can talk about de-ideologizing the map of Ukraine. In the 2012 study, streets with Soviet names are shown in red, and that's not all, but the main streets in cities where local governments are located.
That is, we see how many streets with Soviet names there were in 2012, where Lenin Streets certainly dominated. If we compare it with the 2018 study, it showed that we have actually undergone a de-ideologization of space.
Now the leaders are Sadovaya Street and Shevchenko Street, and, as we see, these names are not political. That is, many of the horror stories did not happen, one of which was that now all the streets will be named after Bandera.
As we see, this did not happen, and, for example, in addition to the statistics of the most popular street names, there are the top 25 named streets in Ukraine, and, in fact, the street named after Bandera is not even included in that list. In total, there are 32 streets in Ukraine (named after Bandera - ed.) out of 52 thousand that have been renamed,” Oleynik boasted.
